1. Engine Speed Sensor

Located on the edge of the transmission, above the flywheel ring gear, the G28 Engine Speed Sensor sends an electrical signal to ECU pin T55/49 using a grey wire. The ECU then uses this information to control the boost, fuel, and timig. It also sends an indicator to the G5 Tachometer within the instrument cluster.

The sensor is used to correlate with the G40 Camshaft position Sensor. The ecu must know when the crankshaft is TDC and the location of the camshaft so it can trigger spark and injectors accordingly.

If this sensor fails the ECU will throw the P00160 error, which means the Crank Shaft and Intake Camshaft are out of sync and possibly indicating chain stretch or a jumped link on the upper timing chain. The code won't show without the additional information supplied by other sensors (G4 or G40).

Testing can be a bit difficult because there are two connector pins, and they have different functions however the best method of testing it is by measuring resistance between the sensor and the ECU. If the sensor is operational, it should read around 1000 ohms. Look for evidence of coolant or oil in the connector bay if you have issues with this part.

2. Injectors

Yesterday, when accelerating from highway paytoll at full speed I noticed a significant decrease in power. It was like the engine was running out of gas. Or, my injectors weren't firing. I pulled out the spark plugs this morning and found that 3 were drenched in gasoline and the fourth was dry. I placed a tissue over each injector hole and when i start the engine with no sparks, the ones with gazoline jump right out. The fourth one remains closed. I inspected the ground connection on ECU pins 14/55/30/55/48/55/14/55/48/ I got zero Ohm. So i assume the problem is somewhere else.

I also tried to reset the PID but without success. The car is able to start when the G28 is disconnected and is running fine when it is plugged in, but still has the intermittent misfire issue at higher RPM. The coolant sensor (G62), even when it is unplugged, shows a temperature of -49c. I also noticed that the oil gauge in the cockpit shows 2 bar when the actual pressure is 0.

I don't know what to do. I think I've all other possibilities out. I'm afraid i may have missed something. Please let me know If you have any suggestions! TIA!

3. Fuel Pump
